FAQs

Is this a Free School?

All academies are now classed as 'free schools' by the government. Longford Park Primary School  is a new Academy that is being built by Oxfordshire County Council. GLF Schools will run the new school once it’s built.

Where will the school be?

The school will be located in the Longford Park development to the east of Banbury on a greenfield site.

What happens next?

Building work started on site in December 2015. The school will be finished by December 2016.

When will the school open?

After consultation with the Department for Education a decision has been taken by Oxfordshire County Council and GLF Schools to delay the opening of Longford Park Primary School until September 2017.

The primary reason for this delay is that there were fewer admissions applications than expected, due to the housing development not progressing as quickly as predicted.  This has led to the decision that it would not be viable to open the school in September 2016.

In addition, the development of the school site has been delayed by exceptionally wet winter weather, and the permanent building would not have been ready for September meaning the school would have to open in a temporary classroom and that the access route to the school may not be operational.

Longford Park Primary School will now open for children of Nursery, Reception and Year 1 age in September 2017. Parents can apply directly on the school website for a place in the Nursery and Year 1. (www.longfordparkschool.org ). Applications for admission in Reception will be through the Oxfordshire County Council coordinated admissions process.
