A forest of saplings for our school grounds!

Longford Park School were fortunate to receive over 100 trees from the Woodland Trust recently. We put a plea out to parents to help us plant them and they responded. This morning, parents, staff and the majority of our Reception Class (4-5 year olds), joined by some of our Nursery class (2, 3 and 4 year olds) got digging and planting! We managed to get over 60 trees planted over the course of the day, and couldn't have done it without the help of three parents who joined and and who were amazing!

We planted a selection of species: dogwood, wild cherry, silver birch, rowan and hazel. These trees, when matured will supply the school grounds with year round colour from blossom in the sprin to changing leaves and colourful berries in the autumn.

They are very small at the moment, but we are looking forward to watching them grow - just like our children!
